Forensics

When data tells what was never spoken.

Twenty years of methodical work with digital behavioral traces have produced a practice that today feeds back into engineering, strategy and investigative analysis - in collaboration with law enforcement agencies as well as in journalistic research and public documentaries.

Starting point

Closing a forensic gap

Forensic analysis rarely fails for lack of data. It usually fails because the relevant signals are distributed, fragmented and hard to read together.

Search behavior, location data, media reactions, geospatial signals or communication patterns often unfold their value only once they are brought together in time and space.

It was precisely from this methodological gap that spectralQ.ai emerged.

Own system

spectralQ.ai

spectralQ.ai is the operational translation of this method into a proprietary system.

The steps that forensic analysis demands - aggregation, triangulation, hypothesis formation, critical counter-examination and documented evidence - are translated here into a continuous architecture.

What was previously manual, distributed and hard to reproduce becomes usable as a coherent analytical process.

What becomes forensically new

Convergences between data sources become visible on a shared timeline, instead of being checked in isolation across separate tools. This shifts the threshold at which a lead becomes a robust finding - not through different data, but through their methodologically clean connection.

What holds methodologically

Every hypothesis is systematically tested against alternative explanations. An adversarial critic agent is designed not to confirm, but to contradict. Only when an assumption survives this counter-test does it gain robustness. The goal is not faster gut feeling - but better plausibility.

What stays evidence-proof

Every analytical action is documented in a hash chain (SHA-256). Manipulations of the chain of evidence become visible after the fact. This traceability is not a technical add-on, but a forensic prerequisite. Without it, every analysis loses its evidentiary value.

TV & Investigative

When traces become publicly relevant

Forensic analysis does not end with case files.

The same methods become relevant wherever complex events have to be publicly reconstructed, examined and put into context - in investigative research, documentaries and journalistic analyses.

Since 2018 I have regularly worked with newsrooms and producers when digital traces, search behavior and reaction patterns help to test competing narratives and make hidden dynamics visible.

This work has fed into productions for ZDF, ZDFzoom, Terra X History and civic-education formats, among others.

Methodological reach

Where behavioral analysis reaches beyond forensics

The method stays the same. What changes are the questions.

In law enforcement it helps reconstruct sequences of events and patterns of action.
In journalism it helps make political influence operations and disinformation dynamics visible.
In markets it makes competitive movements, consumer behavior and strategic shifts legible.

The domain changes. The logic stays.
